This year’s reunion promises to be our most spectacular celebration yet of the magnificent\, completely illegal legacy that proved good drivers in good automobiles could traverse America faster than any government bureaucrat ever imagined. \nEVENT DETAILS \nThe main event begins at our hallowed Darien location. Early arrivals welcome—true automotive anarchists have been known to appear the night before. DESCRIPTION:Last years event was so much fun\, we’ve decided to do it again. Please join us on October 12th and 13th\, for the 2024 edition of the  Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash© Reunion. \nWhat was The Cannonball?\nThe Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash\, commonly referred to as the “Cannonball” or the “Cannonball Run”\, was an unsanctioned\, illegal cross-country automobile race that took place in the United States. It was inspired by Erwin “Cannonball” Baker\, who set multiple cross-country driving records in the early 20th century. The modern race was organized by car journalist Brock Yates and ran five times between 1971 and 1979. The goal was to make the cross-country trip in the shortest time possible\, which often involved breaking numerous traffic laws and using creative methods to avoid police detection. \nFor the first 4 races\, participants would start at the Red Ball Garage in New York City and race to the Portofino Inn in Redondo Beach\, California\, covering about 2\,900 miles. But for the last race in 1979 – the race that the movie was based on – started at the Lock\, Stock & Barrel restaurant in Darien\, CT. While officially discontinued due to safety concerns and legal issues\, the Cannonball Run became a cultural phenomenon\, inspiring movies\, books\, and continued interest in coast-to-coast racing. \nThis years’ star car is scheduled to be Brock Yate’s other Dodge Challenger – the one he was building before he passed away. The car had been lost for a number of years and recently found and the new owner is committed to taking over where Brock left off and is completing the project The Darien event will be only the 3rd time in 18 years that the car has been seen in public. \nWe’ll also have several of the original Cannonballer’s in attendance. \n\n\n\n \nLady Pamela Yates (Cannonball 3) \n\n \nBrock Yates\, Jr (Cannonball 1) \n\n\n\n \nBrad Niemcek (Cannonball 2\, 3 & 4) \n\n \nJohn Micek (Cannonball 5) \n\n\n\n\nAs usual\, ALL MAKE AND MODELS ARE WELCOME to our show. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our 2nd season opener\, April 14th\, 2024 at Goodwives Shopping Center when we will be featuring German Marques: \nMercedes-Benz\nAudi\nBMW\nMINI\nVolkswagen\nPorsche\nDaimler AG\nBorgward\nWiesmann\nAlpina\nGumpert\nRuf Automobile \nAs usual\, ALL MAKE AND MODELS ARE WELCOME but only vehicles fitting our theme will be eligible for a Theme Trophy. \nGates open at 6:30 am. To be eligible for a trophy\, your car must be on the field by 7:30 am. Judging begins at 8:00 am. Trophies will be awarded at 10:00 am \n\nTheme Trophies:\n\n1st Place (plus $200 cash)\n2nd Place\n3rd Place\n\n\n\n50/50 raffle \n\n\n\nSpectators get 20% off their food purchases from Aux Delices.  Exhibitors get 20% off their food purchases and FREE COFFEE from Aux Delices.\n\n\n\nNote that the “-” and “+” icons for tickets don’t work.  You must physically type in the number of tickets you want to buy before the Get Tickets button becomes clickable.
